Well, this is an interesting issue. Does Israel negotiate with Hamas and release some of their Hamas prisoners whom Israel is holding on charges of murder, or do they not? I mean, it's trading the release of innocent civilians for people who have apparently actively participated in violence. However, if they can save the lives of innocent civilian hostages, do they do so?

I'm inclined at this point to say that Israel ought to go through with the trade. I'm inclined to believe that saving the life of an innocent hostage outweighs the tradeoff of letting a potentially violent prisoner back into the community. It also seems like the best way of restoring some semblance of peace between the two parties and might be worth a try, compared to taking a hard line, which might more conceivably end with the horrible death of those hostages.

But maybe there's some angle I'm not seeing. What are others' thoughts?
