I am reading a book called "Climate Cover-Up -- The Crusade to Deny Global Warming" by James Hoggan. Published in 2009, it documents the orchestrated campaign to confuse people and make them doubt the scientists who tell them what is happening. It is a mind-blowing account of how the fossil fuel industry is systematically undermining the efforts of thousands of highly competent and conscientious scientists who are trying to warn the public. I highly recommend this book both for the deniers and to their confused victims.
Thanks for the recommendation, I really appreciate it, but I need no convincing.

I now hate some of mankind so much for all their money grubbing, at the expense of all humans, including themselves, though they're too blind to see.....
Extinction
Our ancestors made it,
out of the primordial ooze,
launched life, evolution, intelligence,
and here we are today: the apex of creation,
on the verge of self-annihilation.
Our big brains can solve
abstract mathematical equations,
design intricate and complex structures,
are stuck in the animal’s fear of starvation
and we think that greed is the only possible solution.
So we replace the simple task of living
with complicated games of domination,
squandering our resources in wars and destruction,
never realizing, even for a second:
we are digging the graves
of our own extinction.
Thanks ned, Is it just Canadians, or what. One of my faves Neil Peart likes to write poetry of sorts, songs that is.

Him and his two buddies, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee are from Toronto, I believe.
A sample of one of my favorites:
The Big Money
Written by Neil Peart
Performed by Rush
Inductees in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Big money goes around the world
Big money underground
Big money got a mighty voice
Big money make no sound
Big money pull a million strings
Big money hold the prize
Big money weave a mighty web
Big money draw the flies
Sometimes pushing people around
Sometimes pulling out the rug
Sometimes pushing all the buttons
Sometimes pulling out the plug
It's the power and the glory
It's a war in paradise
It's a Cinderella story
On a tumble of the dice
Big money goes around the world
Big money take a cruise
Big money leave a mighty wake
Big money leave a bruise
Big money make a million dreams
Big money spin big deals
Big money make a mighty head
Big money spin big wheels
Sometimes building ivory towers
Sometimes knocking castles down
Sometimes building you a stairway
Lock you underground
It's that old-time religion
It's the kingdom they would rule
It's the fool on television
Getting paid to play the fool
Big money goes around the world
Big money give and take
Big money done a power of good
Big money make mistakes
Big money got a heavy hand
Big money take control
Big money got a mean streak
Big money got no soul...
