Here's why the world still goes on. U wouldn't think it but here it is. Becuz human life spans are only eighty years average, a single person doesn't live long enough to notice how nothing ever happens despite politicians promising change and repeating the same podium formulas for decades on end.

Except for a few major democratic reforms and new social programs like social security, medicare and a minimum wage, the general direction in the last fifty years of the average working person/family has been toward increasing personal debt and working more hours (becuz of said debt).

But becuz nobody lives long enough... or maybe i could explain it like this: if u traveled into the future another fifty years and saw this horrible dystopian world where everybody worked all the time and where the statistics and numbers for all the bad stuff were triple what they were fifty years ago - homelessness, gun related deaths, prison populations, illegal immigration, drug overdoses, unwanted pregnancies, home foreclosures, world poverty, bankruptcy, international wars, etc. - u would know that what all the politicians would say and promise for those fifty years leading up to the future dystopian world you're now seeing, was absolute bullshit and that none of em knew wtf they were doing anyway becuz they were systemically wrong at what they were doing. They were part and parcel of a system that couldn't get better, one that isn't able to get better becuz in order for it to work, shit has to get worse and worse for more and more, very gradually, over periods of time that can't be witnessed or lived by a single generation. So each politician sounds promising, appears to have a workable vision that can 'turn things around', and u get all excited and think if this guy's in office, America's problems will go away.

But they never do. They get worse... and by the time u notice, the guy's long gone, or, enough shit has transpired during his office term that it's impossible to place the blame on a single identifiable cause for whatever problems he's being blamed for. And again, it's no politician's fault that they are useless weight in a disfunctional government. The circumstance are such as they are becuz of the way their jobs and roles are structured, their function, their capacities and powers. How they are forced to perform in a system in which the government acts as a nanny to the lower classes (dems) or as an enabler of the wealthiest classes by limiting government (repubs), but not as an entity that seeks to change capitalism. Naturally they can't ever suggest a radical reformation of society becuz that would involve dismantling and making unnecessary their function and the government they form.

What to do then. Repeat essentially empty and ambiguous party slogans to make america great, for your entire term in office. Maybe change a few insignificant things around like insulin prices or abortion rights (until you're gone and the next politician guy comes along and reverses your ruling), but do nothing that will matter in ten years, much less fifty. Then u can retire and get a couple summer homes having served your country and its citizens well.

I get to the beach after driving for hours and the first thing i do when i get there is bump into some chick in front of me at a stoplight, putting a quarter sized hole in her bumper and smashing my bumper all to hell.

We're sitting at a left turn light for two minutes. Light's red. I'm lookin for this seafood restaurant on maps as we sit and wait. Then, she accelerates rather quickly, moves forward about five feet and then abruptly stops. I think the light musta turned green or else she wouldn't have went forward, so i let my foot off the brake and accelerate too.

Turns out, there was a car length space between her and the truck in front of her this whole time... and while the light was still red (two minutes later) she suddenly decides to pull further up for whatever reason.

It was my fault, but look at how absurd the circumstances were. She basically, through no fault of her own, accidentally tricked me into thinking the light turned green and we were all moving forward now.

That's my luck bro. Now watch this: instead of using the thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars I've paid my insurance company over the years (for nothing becuz I've never caused a wreck until now) to pay the outrageous price the privately owned auto repair companies will charge to fix that quarter sized hole, they will increase my current rates, which I will then continue to pay for years without ever getting into another wreck. And the wheels of this nonsense keep turning. Pun there kinda.

Some of us american construction working class joes don't have the heart to do what it takes to thrive financially (if we are able to do so freely and without restriction) becuz doing so would involve doing to others what was done to us which kept us so broke all the time; starting your own company and paying your employees a wage that has been forced so low u can't work em at that rate with a straight face. We literally feel dirty doing something like that. I couldn't possibly give my guy shakir less than $350 a day regardless of what he does, even unskilled labor.

Just knowing that he wouldn't think it was cool if we did the same amount of work but i made a couple hundred more than him becuz 'he's workin for me' yada yada, makes me unable to function like a capitalist. I tried it. Can't do it. I have flashbacks of bustin my ass framing houses for fifteen an hour for some fuckin redneck who pushes his guys beyond human limits, loves it when they compete and tryda out-do each other (they work faster when they do that), and always acts dissatisfied to dissuade u from aksing for a raise. And then i snap back to the present and see Shakir, this honest Allah fearing man, standing before me with his bags on, ready to do my bidding for a meager wage. Nah bruh i can't do it. Tried. Can't.

Shakir gets half or I won't do it. End of story. I ain't no fuckin punk-ass boss.

Then the thought occured to me; every commercial I've ever seen that was shot in an aisle and/or in a store, was like this. No prices anywhere. And i never even noticed.

Now everytime i see an aisle/store commercial i immediately notice the lack of prices and say to myself 'how could u have been so stupid, so blind? There aren't any prices anywhere. There never were any prices... and u just kept right on watching the commercial like everything was fine, didn't u? All those years, so many commercials, and not once did u aks 'where are the prices'.

The old lady decribes how it's two o'clock in the morning and she discovers grampa (her dad), aged 90, up at the top of a ladder in a tree.

U cannot know how funny this is becuz u didn't know grampa, or how the old lady tells the story like she's at coffee after bingo with her senior citizen friends. The whole scene is hilarious. I cut the clip but she goes on to say he had dementia and 'sun downers'.

One of the main reasons violent revolution is eternally inconceivable to post-castro era hispanics is the commercialized traditional accordian pop music where the guy is singing his poor heart out he's so madly in love with Juanita, etc. Music like this will not let u think about anything else but corona and being with her after laying shingles all day. You're just too tired to fight. The music completes this vanquishing of the once noble aztecian mexican valor and paco de lucian spirit which would excite them to violence, dance and revolution, with its dulling anesthetic power.

If I'm up at four in the morning the british CNN news is on and everytime I'm struck by how lame and underproduced they are compared to the american crew. And i also realized something recently after having thought about it. On account of the british accent it's literally impossible for me to feel intimidated in any way by a british person. Duddint matter... a judge, a cop, a robber, a soldier... whoever would ordinarily present a concern or threat. But becuz of that ridiculous accent no matter what they say, it sounds like monty python script to me. I could be receiving a death sentence in court or be at gunpoint in an alleyway, and I'd still have to hold it together to keep myself from doubling over with laughter and shouting 'bloody hell!'

It's just a weird thing in my head or sumthin. That whole people is like a cartoon creation to me. No matter what's happening, the second a british person opens his/her mouth, the thing becomes a comedy.
