I'm thankful for having read and followed Noam Chomsky in the latter half of his academic career. I feel like his writings and talks gave me an awareness of my own country and politics in general that I never would have had or thought of without his work.

I hope he continues to recover from his stroke in 2023.

By all means, show your respect for a loathsome hypocrite I would never have thought could sink so low. More shock than surprise from one of America's great intellectuals! Noam Chomsky's reputation has been irrevocably damaged; he should die knowing the extent to which his legacy has deteriorated. In spite of his perennial criticisms of his own country he proved to have more in common with it than anyone could have supposed through his writings alone.

The one comfort he may have is being too old to care.

It's possible that he's too old to care. Last I heard, he had said that Epstein turned out to be a "trojan horse" apparently (relaying the message through his wife to friends). I'm sure it hasn't phased Chomsky any. He's accustomed to being despised and ridiculed. It probably doesn't bother him too much. He's secure in his persona. I have my disappointments with Chomsky at points but for better or worse, he had a profound influence on me. That influence isn't going to go away.

As you often say fair enough!
