- They say that Bob Dylan is the male version of this great creative genius, Joni Mitchell. They’re right, except for at least two things. She actually has a pleasant singing voice and has evolved musically throughout her life, at least until the point where she says she now only has rich people’s problems for inspiration.

- Mitchell says this song is in the voice of a Gay man. For those of the Gay persuasion, this is a sad, touching song. It speaks of unrequited love, isolation, separateness, loneliness, and likely the fear that causes these things.

- The need for what takes courage to pursue, no matter one’s sexual proclivities, is what drives the need for societal acceptance in folks like the fellow in the song who lives in two grey rooms all alone in order to avoid rejection. This is why confidence combined with kindness is the sexiest feature of a man or a woman, no matter the details of their mortal form.
