All sentient life has instincts. In humans, the suckling and grasping ones come to mind.
Infant sucking and grasping are reflexes, not examples of instinct. An animal's instinctive behavior ensures its survival and it has not choice about. Man is the only creature that can choose to behave in a way contrary to the requirements of its nature and die.

To deny that we have instincts has been refuted by science, but if you prefer to ignore facts -----

Absolutely.
But the adoption option sweeps away that foolish, shallow and selfish excuse, that the baby "would be better off dead." Very clearly, that is not remotely true.
You and I have a simple controversy.
You're advocating that women be permitted to kill their children at will, for no better reason than that they don't want anyone else to have them.
I'm advocating that they put them up for adoption to homes that are desperate to have them.
It's very clear to me which is the moral option. If it's unclear to you, then I really can't think of why.

If you believe in Yahweh, then death for a baby insures it gets to heaven.
You are well aware that in Christianity, only a few get to heaven, while the vast majority ends in hell.
Doing unto others should have you killing as many babies as possible so as to insure their best end in heaven.
You, by not doing so, are condemning many to hell and the worst end.
Prove me wrong, or stop feeding hell instead of heaven.
And you call what you do, as moral.

Better to trade, even with nature; so why do we seem eager to destroy ourselves by killing the earth?
The notion of honorable killing served us well to date. That notion, because of population pressures and M.A.D., now means more of an honorable suicide or genocide by all the military forces of the world, should they be stupid enough to get to a nuclear WWIII.
We men are no longer doing the best that we can for our children or our own best end. We have not curbed our love of killing enough and have put our full global habitat at risk of extinction. Stupid is as stupid does.

We have genetic issues. Some religious people according to study are inclined to religion because of gene:

Do you think our intelligence will ever be able to override our instinctual love of war and killing?

That is, of course, not the question here.
The question here, according to the OP, is, "Why do men like to kill men?" And the abortion situation simply illustrates that women are not specially privileged in this regard -- they "like to kill" (to use GIA's) expression, every bit as much as men do, but sometimes do it in different ways.

I think we need to evolve further.
I do not see a change in our basic morality in our past to the present so I doubt that our DNA will foster a change.
I think it will have to come from education and less of the religions that create sheeple instead of thinking people.

But that's not really the issue.

If you want to believe human beings have instinct, that's fine. There is no science that says human beings have instinct, however.

Just out of curiosity, because there seems to be a possible misunderstanding of your question on this thread, when you ask, "why do men like to kill men?" do you mean by, "men," only males, or are you speaking generically referring to human beings in general, both male and female?
