I guess you didn't notice this link there. CSpan is a network that does not engage in commercialism. It is a worthwhile experience to listen to this video even if one never buys his books:

Even I, a professor Moral Philosophy, learned something about the history of warfare, and how soldiers are indoctrinated, brain-washed, and trained to fight to the death. VERY EDUCATIONAL !

for members of this Forum who might want to learn more about the latest theory of Ethics, and it Applied Ethics implications, check out this document. You may wish to skip the first few pages since they contain technicalities and formalities, but be sure to check out the last 220-30 pages for the conclusions drawn from the small set of initial assumptions: It is a coherent theory that has a unity to its structure: = http://tinyurl.com/mfcgzfz

The title of the pamphlet is BASIC ETHICS: A systematic approach.

I don't know if volunteering for the military is potentially unethical, but I guarantee you that conscripting for the military is absolutely unethical (improper).

The assumption though is that, once you are in the army, you have to follow orders, regardless weather you agree with the ethical nature of the orders or not.
Ignoring the fact that your argument is asinine, the above is simply false. Military personnel have the right to refuse any order they deem unethical or unlawful.
