Only recently...and only after it adopted what it calls "Red Capitalism." Before that, it was a backward, miserable place. In many ways, it still is. Look at what it does to human rights. Look what it's doing to Hong Kong right now. Look what it's doing with Tibet. Look what it's doing to the Uighurs. Look what it did with COVID.

That's failure. For all its recent economic gains, it's a human rights horror show.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, then I'm sorry to say it -- but you don't know what you're talking about.

Indeed, Planet China, the most successfully backward and miserable place in the entire universe.

Time to bin it in the trash can. It's time to write a new book, one that we can all be happy about, one with a better storyline.

God's story is just so beige and basic, could have done better, but can only try harder.

If it "comes from China," it will only be by way of a Chinese dissident. It will certainly not come from the Communist Party of China. Their interests are solely themselves.

Yes. But who knows what the future may bring?

Perhaps. And perhaps we may all have magic shoes one day. But banking on that is not a rational choice, nonetheless.

You're just about right.

I've seen their work first hand in places like Africa, where they've bought up ports, roads, buildings, and all sorts of key infrastructure, and turned them to their own purposes rather than those of the resident people. But is subjugating the world "success"? In a sense, it is. They're conquering with Red Capitalism, which unites the very worst features of capitalism with strict, centralized control by a truly brutal dictatorship. They're "succeeding" right now, alright.

But if you have any awareness of the human rights practices in China, you know full well that "success" means masses of dead bodies. It means the Cultural Revolution, the Maoist purges, the mass incarceration of the Uighurs, the use of human beings in industrial and medical experiments, torture, re-education camps, mass deaths by disease, horrendous pollution, the suppression of free thought in Hong Kong, land grabs, and so on.

One thing you can certainly say about the Chinese government: they have no regard for human rights or even for human life.

If that's "success," then God give us all failure.

And don't forget the positives, there's always a spark of light somewhere in all of us...even in China...see It is the most populated country in the world, with charming and captivating citizens. It is also one of the leading political and cultural forces that helped shape our world. China also has a rich and beautiful history, with people more concentrated on learning and inventing, rather than conquering.

Today, they're trying to take over the world in dominance, both economically and ideologically. They're buying up the Developing World and turning it into new colonial plantations. They're occupying the Pacific. They're spying on free countries, and undermining their democracies. They're manipulating tech. They're subjugating free Hong Kong. They've got hundreds of thousands of the Uighurs in concentration camps. They concealed COVID long enough for the whole world to get it, then closed Wuhan and let their own people just die, all the while telling the world they had the thing under control. They're suppressing free speech and dissent everywhere they go. And they're eliminating all rivals to their power, by any means available.

In other words, they're the biggest Socialist thug-state on the planet, and coming soon to your town.

Please excuse my departure from the given title of the discussion. This is such an explicit and concise example of alternative ideas about God.

DAM describes God as if He utterly transcends our lives. Immanuel Can describes God as if He both transcends and shares our lives that is to say He is both transcendednt and immanent.

There is another idea. The only idea which is viable in this sceptical age. God is wholly immanent and not at all transcendent. Jesus thus becomes, not Christ, but a leading light to men.

No.

"God with us." ?

This is very different concept. "God with us" is the Incarnation. You're talking about the Creation. By any account, these are different events, separated by a very long period of time.
