Re: True Story of the Day
To be happy today, one of two things has to happen. Either other people have to be unhappy for you to be able to be happy or you are a superficial fool. The satiety that comes from affluence and wealth is made possible by the relative poverty of those who produced it. That one's easy. The rest... those that don't have that wealth... are cultured, educated, conditioned, and indoctrinated to believe and accept 'the way things are' in the world and submit to its order. Their happiness, a capacity bred in them over centuries of normalizing a slave like existence, lasts insofar as nothing dramatic enough happens to disturb this way of life.
Hmm. Could it be that all of this philosophical fuss about having a soul and freewill is an intellectual ploy used to keep slaves from realizing that they are really only lumps of clay that can be made to do and believe anything and be happy while doing it?
I mean, right? Here you are thinking you are a special snowflake with a destiny, someone engaged in an epic battle between good and evil and the fate of your soul. In fact, you are a person who will be thought of as a caveman by anyone living in the year 2300. I pick that date because if we've made it that far, it means capitalism ceased to exist, and with it, the superficial slave type. In the eyes of these new people, you would look like a bi-pedal factory mule so stupid and backward you couldn't possibly have a soul, much less any freewill. But you can't know this. You feel like you know what's going on, like you're smart. That's the peculiar 'what's it like to be a snowflake' problem. We won't get into that here.
In any case, that's a decent theory. If physical life has been turned into such drudgery, what would provide any incentive to live? Spiritualizing that life. Nietzsche has been through all this already, though. Man will endure anything provided he believes it's meaningful, etc.
