Nah. Democracy/bad. Utopia/bad. Let's live in the Stone Age instead.Impenitent wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2026 3:47 pmwe have evolved into the perfect democratic humansMikeNovack wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2026 2:07 pmExcept this is a pattern REPEATED throughout known history, sacred sites reused/repurposed. I hope I was joking. Of course, maybe returning to the stone age is what some MAGA people think of as making things "great". I don't know. I haven't figured them out yet.
(Whatever it is they call "great", apparently wasn't here before Trump and is here now that Trump is disgracing us all in the White House.)
Re: Riots in the city of love
I haven't figured them out either and probably never will. It's almost impossible to unravel the motives for this kind of anti-rationalism bordering on insanity whether in individuals, as provided on this site, or in masses as within the MAGA group...except that most of them are relgious or fanatically so.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Sat Oct 10, 2026 1:57 amI hope I was joking. Re: Riots in the city of love
Well, in France, it is now reported that only 15 of 50 groups involved in the riots are actually student groups. The rest are apparently "adult" groups, primarily labour unions, Socialist-Communist insurrectionists and supporters of Islamism. You can see it in the flags, too: plenty of Communist and Hamas ones in there. Funding seems to be flowing from China especially. The goal seems to be to depict the West as in total chaos...and then to use that depiction as a rationale for increasing political revolt.
These riots, if they were ever about education at all, certainly aren't about that now. There are big actors behind this apparent "anti-rationalism bordering on insanity," and a malign purpose behind the "motives." But it certainly all has a reasoning of sorts behind it.

Because of personal experience/knowledge I am always skeptical about claims of outside funding. Certainly skeptical about the amounts. Part of that comes from erroneous assumptions about "paid agitators" etc.Immanuel Can wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2026 1:59 pm ....... Funding seems to be flowing from China especially. ..........

Be skeptical. We should be. But also, be skeptical of the people who were bound and determined to tell you that the riots were about "education issues," and were being performed spontanteously, and by "students."MikeNovack wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2026 3:47 pmBecause of personal experience/knowledge I am always skeptical about claims of outside funding. The first dead giveaway should maybe have been when they started burning schools and throwing gasoline on teachers. And maybe the people who are holding those Hamas and hammer-and-sickle flags just might have something on their minds, other than getting money into classrooms.
Somebody is behind all this...what their agenda is probably has little to do with French educational funding.

on the other side,
«One Frenchman is a romantic, two Frenchmen are a duel, and three Frenchmen are a revolution.»
1975. Prostitutes' revolt in Lyon

Yes, perhaps now there is also a revolution of prostitutes there, like in Perrault, Little Red Riding Hood woke up and began to give herself with revolutionary fury to the dark wolf in the keffiyeh.
And what about Belgium, Britain, are they there without revolutionary fervor, lazily giving in?

Re: Riots in the city of love
There are now riots in Belgium and Spain, some smaller upheavals in Greece and Italy, and both riots and counter-marches in England, in Scotland and in Ireland. It looks like things are moving toward some sort of more serious and direct clash. But we'll see.Janoah wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2026 9:20 pm Yes, perhaps now there is also a revolution of prostitutes there, like in Perrault, Little Red Riding Hood woke up and began to give herself with revolutionary fury to the dark wolf in the keffiyeh.
