I think that there is no one best way, that it depends on what you are trying to look at. For example, f suspecting things not as they are said to be, i want a functionalist looking. If in the middle of turmoil from social divisions or if rapidly changing, a conflict person. The trouble is, most "schools will be all one thing, and if all you have s a hammer, everything looks like a nail. In other words, I expect a school to have good analysis some time and poor analysis sometime.
