Kudos to Dad. He was a Cassius Clay fan from the get-go, both for personality and skill, and was also an Ali fan ... for the transcendence of the sport, and the government.promethean75 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 2:34 pm But Ali is a scientist in the ring and he knows how to read and size up an opponent. The Olympics

Re: The Olympics
Maybe women shouldn't be boxing in the first place. They don't have to do every stupid thing men do. (Personally, I like boxing. It's artistic -- far more so than MMA, which lacks the "sweet science" of boxing, as A.J. Liebling might put it. But smart people should avoid participating).
The two controversial women are not trans (as I understand it). They have always believed they are women. Instead, like the South African world 800m champ , CAster Semenya , they have been banned for having high testosterone levels. Of course these could be natural or they could be the result of doping. Semenya was allowed to compete if she took testosterone suppressing drugs, a silly rule mandating performance-diminishing drugs.

If the Olympic event included quality of trash talk*, no sex change necessary.promethean75 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 2:40 pm Also, could Veg beat Ali if she had a sex change and entered men's boxing?
I say yes.
It would be Veg vs. Ali's poetic flights.
I don't know ... even in his prime Ali would have his hands full, or gloves in this case.
* Actually, it probably should, considering that trash-talk is a war like element, like Olympic field events.
Re: The Olympics
I heard that air-marshalls are taught wing-chung, for close-quarter combat on planes, which is about the most practical training for an unarmed woman with knowledge of where to aim, seeing as how most occasions don't allow for a wide perimeter, like boxing does.
Interesting factoid, I heard that in daily encounters male prisoners are more likely to obey a strong female guard than a male guard, because most men are raised by women. It's either a conditioned or inherent response. The case for inherency can be made with puppies. To tell a puppy it was bad, gently lift it by the scruff of the neck, like its mamma would do. It will learn and still love you.
Perhaps an event should be ... speaking sternly and giving orders that are followed ... also necessary in the war against criminals and puppy poo.

Re: The Olympics
I've never seen anything so ridiculous and disgusting. Unfortunately all we get from the Olympics pretty much on TV here is swimming - so f'ing boring but Oziees concentrate on that particular craft for gold --gold gold gold!!! we want gold!! crap
But I did stumble across this live on utube - haven't watched it all - but saw the actual woman refuse to shake or fist pump the MAN that just gave her a belting. I wonder if he practices on his wives - must be a Muslim - Algerian..mmm
Talk about a man that has no shame - to belt a woman on worldwide TV and then gloat in it.
Olympic men v women boxing.

It's an ideal sport for women. Or don't you think women should be 'allowed' to defend themselves? Maybe men shouldn't be allowed to box. Maybe men shouldn't be allowed to compete in women's sports. Just a thought. You say boxing is 'stupid' and then go on to say how much you like it. Semenya is a man. Not a 'she'. A MAN who is married to a woman and has FATHERED children you idiot!Alexiev wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 3:00 pm Maybe women shouldn't be boxing in the first place. Re: The Olympics
There is no such thing as 'trans'.
So were they both men pretending to me women? I thought the 'winner' was a man and the other was an actual woman.

There is no such thing as an actual woman. A woman is a woman. Same with the 'biological woman' bullshit. That's the only kind there isattofishpi wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:10 pmThere is no such thing as 'trans'.

No man 'believes' he's a woman, unless he's completely insane, in which case he should be in a mental institution--not let loose amongst women.
Re: The Olympics
Well, perhaps brain damage wouldn't do you much harm. I wouldn't let my son (or daughter) box, although I like to watch.accelafine wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2024 8:02 pmIt's an ideal sport for women. Semenya's children were born by in vitro fertilization (acc. a quick google). I assume she didn't provide the sperm.
If women want to compete in combat sports, I suggest Sumo Wrestling. I wouldn't want my kids to get involved in that, either, but it's a great spectator sport.

Re: The Olympics
For fuck sake. Was that dickipedia? Caster has XY chromosomes and internal male sex organs. Sometimes the external genitalia of babies hasn't properly developed and the sex at birth isn't clear. They are still either male of female. It might just be a matter of internal testicles as is the case with the boxer. They are both XY and both MEN. BOTH have gone through male puberty. Only a disingenuous scumbag would look at and listen to Semenya and say that he's a woman. It's really not that difficult to understand. Google has become impossibly political and biased when searched.Alexiev wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 1:01 amWell, perhaps brain damage wouldn't do you much harm. What difference does it make if it was 'in vitro'? They are his biological children, from the SPERM in his TESTICLES. Which part of that screams 'female' to you? Are men with tiny penises actually women?
Why would I give a rat's arse what you would 'let' your children do? What does that have to do with anything? Boxing is perfectly safe for women when they are boxing other WOMEN. Why the fuck shouldn't they? I'm sure female sumo wresters would be safer against male sumo wresters than female boxers are against male ones.
