Not the point. Women have been stripping in France for a long long long time, yet that wasn't included in the 'inclusive' opening ceremony. And yes. America is the birthplace of woke. The ceremony was about being woke and you know it.
Besides, drag queens are the most pathetic of 'entertainers'. They don't even sing--they lip sync. Can't sing. Can't dance. The only point of them is to parody women. It's the Olympics of misogyny, so in that sense I suppose the awful drag queens were entirely appropriate.

Not so sure about that. What he has gone through to expose Pakistani Muslim child-rape gangs, I'm not too concerned about such daft sentiments. The "Nazi" thang is extremely stupid - the guy has a massive following of various ethnicities with many being good friends of his. If Nazi Germany arose from the ashes again, he and most of the people at the 27th July rally would be the first to fight it...again, how ironic.

There's definitely something 'off' about him. People are prettey darned easy to read. That's what millions of years of evolution does. We ignore these instincts at our peril. This is why we have a movement of deviants and predators gaslighting the world's population into ignoring what our instincts tell us. They've always been around, often in positions of power, but now they are free to flaunt themselves in plain sight--and with the law on their side there's no stopping them. I'm not putting Robinson in that category, but he obviously has a poor character and isn't very bright.

I totally agree. Yes, Robinson isn't pretty with language and aesthetically a little 'thuggish' all around. He's the types I grew up with, a natural leader indeed for the lower-middle class.

I love listening to Murray. Check out Alex Phillips on talkTV channel..she speaks her mind about the state of things in UK a very intelligent (and sexy) lass.

Of course generally images of the holy are taboo in Islam, but well, taboos vary. One can have images of the Koran.
So, in Qatar they might open the ceremony with satirical images of the KOran?

There's no state religion in France. It seems like any religion would then be open to satire or, I don't know what to call it, ideologically driven re-symbolization? Would it have been ok with Judaism, Buddhism, Islam?

And note, I wouldn't have any problem with an artist doing this kind of thing. I actually quite like Serrano's Piss Christ - which I have seen in a gallery and it is, ironically, quite beautiful. And one example among many. It's the nature of the event that makes it seem not only a poor move, but actually an intentionally poor move.

Why would the organizers of an event meant to unify open the ceremonies with whatever that was. The negative results are so utterly predicatable that it would seem reasonable to think they are intended. The postive ones also, sure. But they couldn't manage to be creative without adding to the splits already out there?
