But religion is beneficial for the following reasons:

Teachings of goodwill and the golden rule (do unto others)
Promoting ethics and good morals in life
Inner strength and courage to do the right thing
The message of forgiveness
Sense of community and belonging
Selfless Service

I will never reach pure good but I can head in the right direction.
