Epidemic and Three Economies
What would the country be like and commerce and wages etc organised in these scenarios.
1 Much as today: Money generated by individuals and Government finance as an imposition and tax on personal wealth. Money borrowed by government and paid back to individuals etc through gilts and the like.
2 The government owning absolutely everything and employing everyone, with a duty of care for all people. With money therefore entirely in government hands.
3 The treasury owning the Bank of England. The income and budgets of government financed by a direct precept on the Bank of England, with the required amount released by the Bank to the general banking system as needed. A duty of care foe the population whether employed or not.
