The 8 dimensions?

How does science work? And what's all this about quantum mechanics?

Time: Dialation and Lengthcontraction, forth and back.

I don't get it. How do we get 8 dimensions from special relativity?

It's from String Theory, not from Einstein.

because locality can exist in 8 dimensions in its nolocal hoste.so there must be 8 locations of reality for one moving object.

Hello Hex

Sorry, it was time dilation along with length contraction that threw me. Can you expand on your OP a bit? I am still not with you on this one.

First off, this is my personal thoughts on the 8 dimensions that String Theorists are searching for.

Einstein proposed that Time is a dimensions, but imo it should be split up in 2 dimensions as Dialation and Lengthcontraction seems too unique to be just 1 dimension.

Apparently at this Stage M -theory has come up with eleven dimensions, as opposed to the previous eight. I can google it for you if you interested.

Yes,time dilation and length contraction are a bit strange, but they exist in a geometrical relationship that would be difficult to explain in terms of 2 different dimensions.

Hang on I get it. You are probably wanting to say that length is an extra dimension just as time is a dimension. Is that correct?

No, there was 5 leading M theories, then Edward Witten came along and united the 5 theories into just 1, and reducing the 11 dimensions to 8.

Classic dimensions like X Y Z are also geometrically related, but they are counted as 3 dimensions, just like Dialations and Length Contraction are geometrically related, I count them as 2 dimensions where as normally they are only counted as 1 dimension.

String theory has 10 dimensions, or 26 in super string. You should probably learn more about string theory. It's all monumental guff by imaginative people who genuinely have too much time on their hands, but no science is ever useless, pity most of it is not science, but hypothesis has its place...

I am not sure where you got the 8 dimensions from. My understanding is there were 5 different competing string theories at the time, each requiring extra dimensions (possibly 10)

Ed Witten united the five theories into a single theory called M theory. He demonstrated that the five different versions of string theory were really a single version looked at in five different ways. In order to achieve the unification an extra dimension was required, bringing the total 11 dimensions.

Yes, this is what I thought you were saying.

All these damn theories!!

Well, I looked at String Theory where it's 8, M Theory demands 11.

M Theory might deal wtih:

- holograms
- negative matter
- super position

Like most things I tend to struggle. String theory is something of great difficulty from my point of view. So in relation to how string theory explains holograms, negative matter and superposition- well... you are way ahead of me.

Super Position deals with Schroder's Cat, kinda simple.

Hex you are talking shit. But then you can never see anything I write so keep talking shit, I am sure it will illuminate you by bringing a candle only to your imagined reality, not reality as it is.

He does not have the first idea what he is talking about, he's way ahead of a mushroom but far behind anyone who actually understands this. Hex is a dull mushroom in a dark room. I have at least studied physics to a degree level so don't think I am belittling him for the sake of it.

If you want to know how String theory works asks me, I can tell you at least how it seems to work, or ask a String Theorist if you want details; asking Hex is like asking how a bicycle can do magic on a green triangle, he's clueless.

Saying hex is way ahead of anything just created the biggest paradox in history, whose ripples will be felt by the meme space into eternity/
