Re: Is being 'anti vax' a form of suicide?

I tried to persuade my dad not to take the shot. But he took it died from the experimental “coronavirus (common cold)” shot that is actually designed to harm genes & has been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier. It is amazing how stupid so many people have acted - going along with fear monger...

Do most IQ tests come from the US today?
They originated in France.

Irony of using ad hominem attacks to call others illogical.

Re: Logical fallacies much?

The list you compiled, is of already accepted and agreed upon 'logical fallacies', correct? If yes, then all of them would make sense. For if they did not, then they would be of some sort of 'logical fallacy', themselves. I grouped some together and didn’t include MANY that seemed redundant or less...

Re: Philosophy is Organized Insanity

Philosophy is the love of wisdom. If wisdom is organized insanity, then what is sanity? Foolishness? … Who ever said "true" love is insane? Good points. Though maybe the implication that we are always somewhat illusional by being subjective - has merit. But philosophy (especially logic) C...

Re: Logical fallacies much?

One can logically predict potential outcomes of an action, without the requirement to decide / determine whether that outcome is good/bad. Logic is a predictive tool, and one we can use to eliminate false possibilities (i.e. things that may seem possible, but logically determined to be impossible)....

Re: Logical fallacies much?

Logical fallacies derive their value from consensus of emotions hence make the faultiness of fallacies illogical. No. That is exactly what logic prevents - appeal to emotion or emotional reasoning. But as mentioned, some of life is more emotion based - ie loving an other, being creative. So there m...

Excellent point!
Sometimes applying logic is a kill-joy. Eg., during sex, singing, dancing or any way of being creative.

But since we think 24-7, generally, logic is an essential tool to navigate the world through our mental filters.

Re: Logical fallacies much?

Is there an rationality as to why logical fallacies are a bad thing without relying on emotion? Logical fallacies are as much assertions as logic itself. Actually that’s a good question. It implies, why bother learning about logical fallacies? In practical ways - logic is clear thinking. Lack of lo...

Re: Logical fallacies much?

Truth of the content of the idea rather than the contents truth. First, ask what is truth, Pilate asked how many accusations? Second, Jesus focused on truth. Learn what truth is and then, live by it. Be certain in your responses, do not just discredit the person. Most of these arguments are pooh po...

Re: Logical fallacies much?

Thanks for the posts. It would be great to discuss the list presented in the OP. There’s been mainly focusing on individual trees in another forest. :) What is 'it', exactly, that would be great to discuss? you have presented a list, but what about 'that list' would you like to discuss, exactly? Wh...

Re: Hello Everyone!

…Is the self a real entity or merely a constructed illusion? Interesting question! I’d say it’s definitely real in that it causes real influence. But it’s also illusion-based, since it operates from subjectivity. What do you think of consciousness as energy? Btw, welcome to the forum! I’ve been her...
