Re: Mans Ultimate Purpose

. When I comes down to it, when it's all said and done, mans ultimate purpose is to observe. In the end we are a complex interchange of hydrogen. Nothing more. There is an old saying; if you leave hydrogen alone long enough it will eventually develop language and then, eventually hydrogen will obse...

Re: When (and how) something (or someone) is "good."

If you're evil it is ^^ But no, good is not just another way of saying approve of. Approval is approval, good is good. People can approve of things which are not necessarily good, because in their world evil may be a necessity. An example of this are the people who thinks Hiroshima was necessary, t...

Re: When (and how) something (or someone) is "good."

Perhaps "is good" is simply another way of saying "I approve of it". Is it possible to say: It is good but I do not approve of it. Or: I approve of it but it is not good. Or: I approve of it but it is bad. I approve of it when I do it to you but I disapprove of it when you do it...

Re: When (and how) something (or someone) is "good."

You cannot judge the goodness of anything by abstracting it from the whole of the world. Things are good because of their relations to the rest of the world, not for the fulfilment of any given set of requirements. I disagree.... the individual knows from his own personal experience what is good. i...

Re: No formula for happiness

Buddha is said to have a pretty solid formula if any. But it doesn't make too much sense to most people. THE EIGHTFOLD PATH is as complicated as the ten commandments that Jesus made into two commands. of right thinking and right doing. even famed stand up comic George Carlin noted that the ten comm...

There is no possibility about it.

You will die and you will cease to exist.
sorry but the law of the conservation of energy declares one does not cease to exist when they die, they just change energy form.

Re: An Introspective Look at Choice

Could I have chosen differently than what I actually chose? At first glance, this question seems silly, as it feels very obvious that I have the power to choose as I please and therefore could have chosen differently than what I had actually chose. This inner power, that I call free-will, allows me...
