Re: Grown ups are stupid
Kayla that makes about as much sense as telling someone who is complaining about nazis or klansmen I didn't tell you anything. I asked you, since you're going to meet many of these kinds of people, what will your action be toward them? How will you act? It's a problem you're actually going to have t...

Re: Grown ups are stupid
Kayla and it is manifestly obvious that plenty of grownups are stark raving batshit insane and would not know wisdom if it hit them in the head with a locomotive Quite right, Kayla, the world's full of them. So what are you going to do? Insult them? Kill them? Tell them they're beyond insane? You'll...

Dimebag
If I understand you I think that's right. One has a certain freedom of choice but those choices are always limited.I wonder if the acceptance of free will as myth might be correlated with ones locus of control

Re: free will-how can it exist?
chaz wyman You are talking about death. Quite right, the end of self is death. Not the physical death but the inward. You can either wait for nature to make you free, or you can always put a bullet in your own head. There's no question of waiting for nature or anything else. Die, not 'wait'! Either ...

Re: free will-how can it exist?

are you capable of not seeing what you see?
Yes, I can shut my eyes. Or ignore something.
are you capable of choosing to see something different that what you see?
Yes. If I see a door I can choose another door.
what is 'nothing'?
The absence of things.

I don't understand this at all. Try turning up late to work every day and see if time is an illusion!SpheresOfBalance wrote:Time does not exist!
It is an illusion
As you say, time is measured movement. If you say time is an illusion then movement must also be an illusion. Movement is not an illusion.

What's stopping us from seeing the truth?
Nothing. The truth is what's actually happening, what we actually do, say, think, and so on. Can't we see that?

Re: Is time continuous or discrete?
I have been pondering this question lately after considering how we perceive time Do we perceive time? Bring your hand slowly from left to right. We perceive movement, not time. We're unaware of time physically speaking. What we're aware of is an inward sense of time. It can pass quickly if we're i...

Re: What's stopping us from seeing the truth?
Actually nothing, is there? The truth, what's actually there, is in front of us. There's nothing to stop us seeing it if we want to.Bill Wiltrack wrote:.
