Re: Asimov versus A.I.

No, you don't piss me off, but I do want to keep this forum reserved for thoughts from humans, not drivel from AI LLMs. Therefore I am disouraging people from regurgitating it here. I don't see the need for a blanket ban on AI generated text at this point, but I do think that if any such text is pos...

Re: Asimov versus A.I.

Not really sure what you are doing. It looks like you just posted the output from one or more LLMs here. Why? I'm baffled. In general, I'd say this is a forum for humans. The AI chatbots already have their own forum: https://www.moltbook.com If you do want to post reams of AI chatbot output here, I'...

What if the tool makes its own killing decisions based on its assessment of the battlefield situation?

Yes, I imagine him as being a very grand gentleman who in portraits looks a lot like Cardinal Wolsey!

Re: Re-energised

Thanks all, I’m reading and trying to keep several things in my head simultaneously… harder as I get older 😀 also reading A Level revision books as background… Oh, you should read the excellent A Level Philosophy books by Cardinal Hayward Jones! (Not really written by a cardinal...they were co-auth...

Re: Philosophy Now Forum Suggestions Box

I strongly second that suggestion. If you start a few threads on environmental ethics in the Applied Ethics section, it'll demonstrate the variety of questions that can be debated. If there seems to be a decent amount of interest, I'd be happy to then move the threads to a new, dedicated, section,

Re: Happy Spammer Day

Hi Gary, yes well spotted. The spammer was clearly too lazy to change the "birthday" field in theor software. I deleted half a dozen of the accounts but ran out of time to do the rest. However, I did block the internet address they were all registered from over that two or three year perio...

That's quite impressive. Where did you get the extra emojis? I can't see those ones as options. I now have emoji-envy.

Re: The Hour of Vance

Nipping back to the original theme: A lot of people are saying that Trump is failing around like an incompetent fool, with only vague and shifting ideas of his war aims in Iran, and no credible plan for how to achieve anything or exit the conflict. A lot of people are saying that he's about to launc...

Re: Persia or Iran?

Zoroastrianism is indeed very interesting, and is apparently the true origin of both dualism and monotheism. Unfortunately, it has suffered centuries of repression by Islam, and its adherents now number less than 1% of the population. There's still at least one temple, though, in the city of Yazd, ...
