This feels like what you are saying can be explained more simply by the flow of time. As no change can occur without the flow of time, and for any kind of continuity there must be a temporal flow.

I think a great way to gain insight into the true nature of time is to consider a thought experiment, What if Time Stopped?
If Time stopped, does matter and energy still exist?
