Re: Re-energised
I have a couple of the ‘My Revision Notes’ but not the actual textbooks. I’ll have a look. Love that it could be Cardinal Hayward Jones as a single person
I hadn’t even seen that

Re: Re-energised
Thanks Imp… I think my problem is that I choose something to read ~ either a book or a paper ~ and that mentions another book, then I think I should maybe read that first… then I read them recommending something… then… then then… it’s like I wanted to read Dante but maybe needed to read Anneid first...

Re: Re-energised
Hi Immanuel and Flash, I’ve been following various philosophers on Patreon and Substack and they all say that the best way to learn something and/or be sure you understand it is to write a short essay. But the problem is if no one comments on the ‘essays’ then how do you know if you’ve understood at...

Re-energised
Hi all, I was on the forum a while ago but got a bit lost in many ways and dropped off… I’m back reading philosophy and currently trying to study philosophy of religion and ethics. I’m interested in small discussion groups online or a 1-2-1 accountability type partner who could comment on my rather ...

Re: Philosophy Now website - NEW DESIGN LAUNCHED
I really like the site. Everything is very simply laid out and very clear and I clicked through a few things. I’ll definitely be back regularly. Personally I like clear and uncluttered... dislike strongly the sites that try to be too clever with design - you know the sort, purple circles with yellow...

Re: Hello all
Thank you for the welcome Rick - I finally made it.... mmm drunks in a pub? I grew up near Glasgow and don’t have great memories of pub arguments! Now for me it tends to be a bottle of Pinot Grigio at home  I’m not even sure what "outdated philosophy" is as I thought it was mainly bui...

Hello all
Hi all, I’m a newbie joining the forum to hopefully engage and learn how to "be a philosopher" by discussing and arguing - in the nicest possible way, of course. I’m retired now so have time to read properly and I’m currently on Plato. I’m reading his dialogues and a couple of introductory...
