Re: Currently under attack
OK, Bora has investigated. There was no attack. What happened was that in the setup for the adverts at the top of the forum there is a setting allowing Google to experiment with other ad formats to increase effectiveness. Google used that as permission to run the ad at the foot of the forum. Having ...

Re: Hello!
I picked up a copy of Philosophy Now on a visit to London. I noticed it featured this forum and thought that here might be a fun place to hang out and improve my English. I must confess, I am using AI to present myself as more fluent than is the case, but any questions and arguments presented will ...

Re: Cosmist curator
The devil is in the details. Even if one accepts that people ought to care for children, then what is good care, bad care, lack of care? And how do you figure it out from what "is"? I share your reservations. Her point seemed to be that being human implies things like caring for your chil...

Re: Cosmist curator
But oh boy I would have loved to meet Philippa Foot! I am a tad jealous to be honest. Thank you. It was great. I interviewed her for Philosophy Now, and she was very interesting to chat with, though the cassette tape recorder I used was so old and decrepit that it took ages before we managed to get...

Re: Box popping up on screen
Thanks guys for mentioning this. I am not seeing it on my computer. In the revolving ad thingy at the top of the page I did once see the puzzling "Coffee... Sugar... " etc advert, but not as a pop-up. The word being underlined and made into a link is a type of advertising that I've seen oc...

Welcome to the forum. Your intellectual interests are quite wide. I do not know anything about agnotology, but when I Googled it just now I read that it is the systematic study of ignorance. Is that right? This sounds very interesting. I have some familiarity with virtue ethics, and I once had the p...

Re: Environmental Ethics -- restoration vs leave the wild alone
Beavers --- well recently enough extirpated and the environment still hospitable for them. All they need is a helping hand across the wide salt water barrier and they''ll do all the rest. Beavers even tolerate close contact with humans. They are here now. According to the Wildlife Trusts, there are...

Re: Slow Connection or Slow Server?
Anyway, thank you, Rick, for giving the forum another try. I hope you can come up with another fix. Either way, even if there's no fix, then you've gone above and beyond trying to give us all a forum where we can converse and exchange ideas with other like-minded human beings across the world. I ap...
